Re: vishay resistors for power amp?

134.79.81.40

i just upgraded both amp and pre-amp with matched resistors. I have asmall supply of Low temp-co 1 and .1% Dale resistors. I recently used them to replace all the resistors in my Classe' CP35 pre-amp. WOW! Did they they ever work! Next I did the input circuits of my Classe' Ten power amps. There again they made things better. Last I just used them in my Sony 9000es SACD player. Now I have to say that it's not so much the type as it is the matching. I make sure that the resistor for channel B is exactly the same value as the one in channel A. Normal Dale CMF55 types have a temp-co of T-1, thats 100ppm/c. This means you can match them to three digits. i have found that absolute value isn't as important as matching them is. In the Sony I used 402 ohm for 390 ohm and 50 ohm for 56 and even 15 ohm for 10 ohm with no problem. In ther higher values I used 5.62K for 5.6k and 825 for 820 ohms. BUT they were all matched. So I would say find yourself the best resistors you can and take the time to match them, it worth it. bobwire
