I made mine by vacuum bagging carbon fibre fabric in epoxy into 2mm thick plates and bonding it with NCMS Soft Glue to 30mm thick 2 pound blue closed cell foam.The carbon gives an extremely stiff, hard and non-resonant surface layer and the blue foam is very lossy. I assembled three of these into a Flexy rack per TNT with Sorbathane above and below the carbon/foam shelves, it works very well.
I think for the Audio Industry to offer something like this would be frighteningly expensive but I build mine for cheap and some elbow grease.
