Actually only the barrier layers take up any measurable air space.The rest of it is open cell foam.
When you load an enclosure with dampening material like open cell foam drivers act as if they are in a larger enclosure. So, it is likely to even out fairly close.
I have measured tuning frequencies of ported enclosures before and after Blackhole 5 to find it made no change.
