Thanks for your compliment--sorry to be so late in replying, as we just got back from a family vacation over the weekend.The tube preamp that best fits that description is my old Dynaco PAS-3x, but I realize that many later vintage tube preamps have a much more dynamic sound than the old Dynacos.
Perhaps what I'm really trying to say is that the Grounded Grid has a sound somewhere between tube and solid state, which means it's apt to dissapoint the dyed-in-the-wool tube fanaticist (because of the lack of the typical warm-and-fuzzy tube sound), but please the solid state buff who's looking for a bit more warmth and soul.
