I had come across a site that claimed that if the clock frequency is halved, the errors, freqency or temperature related, will be halved as well. Thus improving the performance of the clock. The scheme is as such, for example, if I need a 10MHz clock, I will half a 20MHz by high-speed Flip-Flop Division, eg, 74ALS112 IC.
But I figure that if there a error of 50ppm at 20MHz, and if the 20MHz is havled to 10MHz, the error will still be 50ppm.
I do not know if the claim or my reasoning is correct? Can someone enlighten me?
Thanks
Jack
