Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |

Last night I installed a cheap radio shack IEC on my Rotel cdp and replaced the Rotel's power cord with a stock Belden cord. I was astounded at the improvement in sound quality. Everything was clearer, from top to bottom. Highs no longer have the cd "edge," mids are richer and more musical, and the bass is tighter and clearer. Highs, in particular, sound wonderfully sweet. Also, I'm picking up a lot more detail. The improvement is similar to how I remember the improvement of adding an outboard DAC (a Muse) to this CDP, which I heard at one of my local dealers. (I'm sure I would get more from a DAC -- but the $10 cord is quite amazing.) Anyway, this is also a big thank you to Richard Parker for his help. I will soon be adding a filter and better IEC, per Richard's suggestion. I hope to hear further improvements. Thanks, Richard!
