We are all welcome to our opinions...and I would fight for the right of someone else to disagree with mine!In this context, we were, I believe, talking about providing a DC supply to valve filaments....and if they are happy with AC, (and some people seem to prefer an AC supply), then the choice of diode in forming a DC supply would appear to be of academic value.
We all are aware that solid-state rectifiers are noisy; generally much more so that thermionic rectifiers; but I believe our filaments and heaters to be unaware of this.
