Hi, if it is new, be sure to give it a couple hunderd hours of breakin, before making any changes. It would help to know what kind of preamp it is, either brand if bought or topolgy if DIY. You could talk to the manufacturer, sometimes you can replace just a pair of the tubes and improve sound. Some of the tubes have more effect on overall sound than others. The guys here who can help you will need more info.
