For doing tweaks, you'll need to unsolder things and believe me, this
is far harder than you'd expect. What's more, I don't think it's
covered at all well in the books. Soldering is well covered and it's
far easier as well.So I suggest you look up advice here about unsoldering (do a search);
also, get some old PCBs and have a go at taking them apart.
I use solder wick to suck up the old solder but others like the
solder sucker tools. It's also useful to have some very fine drills
or bradawls to clean out the holes (very gently) after removing
components.Once you've mastered unsoldering things, you'll find soldering a doddle.
