Yourtrouble is a pretty common one, and has been discussed in the General Forum: it´s a matter of some DC in the mains, which saturates yur transformer´s core, and so makes it sing.LCAudio (www.lcaudio.com) makes a small board, which they name "Mains DC Filter", around USD 20, if I´m not wrong, on that purpose, and it´s easy to install, either as an external attachment or, even better, placing it inside your amp, provided there´s enough room. It can handle up to a 1,000 Watt transfo.
I have it installed, and my power amp is dead quiet now.
Regards
BF
