I am building a +/- 30VDC using 1085/1033 regs and series pass transistors. My plan is to use 200 uF of Black Gate caps (two 100 uF as l-cancelling pairs) on the adjust pin and another 200 uF as the output cap.Your advice about film caps is interesting -- the data sheets suggest 22 uF solid tantalum (we know better than that) or 150uF electrolytic.
I think the big value on the electrolytic is meant to compensate for their notoriously wide variance from spec -- but the film caps I am familiar with (reliable, hovland, etc) max out at about 10 uF.
What caps and/or values of film caps have you used with regulators?
