Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |
|
Just an open question, looking for any useful input anyone is prepared to contribute. I am building a transmission line monitor using 15" Volt bass units, and ATC mids. Anybody got any really good reccommendations for a suitable tweeter, cost is not a problem? The system will be actively driven. I was very impressed with the Tweeter performance of the Meyer HD1's but am not sure what drivers were used, a green domed effort, maybe someone can enlighten me?With the loading of the bass driver I'm still toying with the idea of a TL quasi horn arrangement, anybody got any experiences with such? I read with interest several articles concerning stuffing of TL's, My main concern is not to end up with that hole in the middle effect, that I felt many of the TDL/IMF suffered from. I note that a lot of these comercial designs seem to have little or no wadding in the line itself just the damping of the line walls, are there advantages/disadvantages to this? I have a pair of PMC LB1's (truncated transmission lines) that don't seem to suffer from hole in the middle effect, and I've heard other speakers in their range that seem to also have overcome this. Don't care much for the top end, find them a little soft and splashy, but I think that is down to the Dynaudio drivers they use. Any input will be greatfully received! Thanking you all in advance....
