Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |

I am using a Croft Troubador that uses a CE Dubilier electrolytic to block DC and AC couple the output. The caps usednow are 470 ufd and 200v. It sounds great, but I am never satisfied. I think a better quality cap could improve the sound.
I have looked around and it seems the value on the normal replacement caps (Black Gate, Elna, Silmic, etc.) are either too low a voltage or too small a value. I do not think the connecting two caps together to either increase the value or raise the voltage rating is a good option. These techniques work fine in power supply filtering, but Iwould like to stick with a single cap for signal coupling. The amp is only 8 watt into 16 ohm speakers so the current demands are low.TIA
