Try Understanding Electronics and Electricity by G Randy Slone McGraw Hill publishing very good beginner,s book explains componets as well as electronics theoriesans even has different projects.
around $20 US
For a more advanced book on audio amps try The High Power Audio Amplifier construction Manual by the same author and publisher
about $35 US
