Sam-"Litz" wire is a type of construction, as the other post mentioned. It was designed for RF circuits, where the skin effect of a cable becomes the dominant loss factor at ever increasing frequencies. Higher frequencies tend to travel on the outside of a conductor, so multiple smaller conductors will transmit higher frequencies with much less loss. As to wether or not this is audible or measurable at audio frequencies is debatable. You must remove the varnish on the ends of every strand of the wire you are using, otherwise you will not be using every strand in the bundle. If ALL of the varnish is off the wire already then you no longer have a "Litz" wire, anyway. A very hot soldering gun might do it, but in my experience anything over 28 ga. needs a solder pot to insure good tinning of the wire end. If I were you, I might consider using a different type of high quality wire.
