I just got a new equipment rack that has a large support post down the center of the back. Unfortunately, that’s exactly where the RCA jacks are located on my McCormack DNA-1 power amp. With the interconnects plugged into the RCAs, the amp is pushed forward almost to the point of falling off the front of the shelf. To solve this problem, I am planning to hardwire my interconnects into the amplifier. I was going to remove the RCA jacks, run the interconnect wires in the holes, and solder them to the PCB where the jumpers to the RCA jacks were.
Any suggestions (specific type of solder, technique, etc.) on doing this? Also, the Kimber Silver Streak interconnect has 3 conductors even though it is single-ended. Are two of these conductors used for the ground?
Thanks,
Nate
