Thanks for the specific AA reference. In the case of My CD player the voltage regulator is on the PCB. The tranformer primary filter caps and bridge diodes are on a separate PCB.I am not trying to reinvent the wheel or retire the national debt in this CD player. I encountered a problem after bolstering the size of the electrolytics around the opamp on the PCB. I am more concerned in problem resolution than a total product overhaul.
Nevertheless I will get the Pooge book and see what is offered there. I have built a number of Power Supplies based on articles in AA, but the parts for a new supply would exceed the initial cost of this CD player which I got only to tweak.
