Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |

I hope my fellow inmates can steer on the right course... I want to build a tube-based preamp for a microphone. My preference is to buy a good book on tube design and jump right into the project, altough if there are any good kits, I would be interested if they are not too expensive.First, can anyone recommend a good book that will educate me on thebasics of tube design and hopefully include some circuit diagrams and designs? It would be best if the book is available for me to order immediately, but if the book is *really* good, I suppose it would be worth a search for it. Are the books on tubes at Amazon any good? My preference is for a book that gets into technical details of circuit design, since I have done a fair bit of electronics and physics.
Second, if you have any specific advice on getting started on the right path for a good design, I would appreciate that.
Finally, is it possible to make an amp that will work both for my wind instrument (a didgeridoo) and my turntable? I have a Jolida 302b integrated amp that I want to send the signal into.
Thanks much!
Kevin
