Last night I completed (nearly) my new P-3A PS with integral Jon Risch line conditioner. I installed a filtered IEC socket in a proto box feeding a JR line conditioner circuit out to a 9V - 3.5A Talema toroidal xformer, slid about 3 small ferrite beads over each of the secondaries and then made an AC out cable out of a twisted pair of Kimber 19ga. wire with copper braided shield and braided nylon jacket over that for a clean appearance. The AC wire shield then has a drain wire soldered from it at the PS end only, directly soldered to the PS ground which is grounded to earth via the ground lug on the IEC socket (I forgot to solder the drain wire to the shield last night however...oops).The background is amazingly dark and quiet, as though the music were blooming within a vacuum. I only listened at low volumes last night as my wife was still sleeping, the whole thing hasn't burned in and I still have to solder the drain wire to the shield, but suffice it to say, that for $70 in parts, it is a DEFINITE winner.
As usual, mileage may vary.
