Re: Think these would be good for damping?

I've recently become less happy about lead than I was previously so I wouldn't go for lead on general principle at present. See my post below about removing lead shot from my system.

Having said that, my feeling is that these are expensive for what you might achieve. If you're going to weight the top of something, ordinary bricks or just a heavy board would probably do as well for a lot less cash. If you're going to use them as footers under something, you would need at least 3 and once again, I think you could get a more effective product specifically designed for that purpose a lot cheaper and I would personally prefer to avoid the mass at present.

On the other hand, some people swear by lead and it will definitely make a difference to the sound of your setup. You may like that difference and that's fine but I'd toy around with something else the same weight that you have around the house and see what effect the weight has first, as well as something with lesser weight and see what you think, or find someone you know who's using lead and see if you can borrow whatever they're using for a night to try it. As well as noting the initial difference with whatever you try, remove it after a few hours of days and see what you feel about it then. Your feelings may be quite different to your initial reaction.
