binding post replacement/upgrade

63.195.98.186

Hi all,

The upgrade itch has struck again!

I've noticed a level of grain in my system at the higher frequencies. It may be from an inadequate source (modified MSB Link) but I suspect that it can be ameliorated by upgrading the binding posts in my stock Belles 150a power amp. The Hot Rod version of the 150a primarily benefits from this modification.

I've heard of Edison-Price, Cardas, Vampire for solid copper binding posts. Anyone have any recommendations? Has anyone done the replacement themselves? How hard is it? What's involved?

Another idea I had was to simply take out the binding posts and connect my AP Oval 9s directly to the internal wiring, as recommended by Ric Shultz (tweakaudio.com). I don't want to cut off the terminations for my Oval 9s though, so I was thinking of some non-conductive clamp solution to kind of crimp the bare wire to the Oval 9 spades. How does this sound?

Thanks for your input,

Andrew
