Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |
|
For my first DIY speaker project I would like to build a small pair of speakers to be used in my office. I am a computer programmer so needless to say I spend a lot of time in front of my computer screen. I know this isn't the ideal situation but I wanted to start small before tackling my "dream system" for use at home. The distance between the speakers will be about 3-4ft. with a large monitor between and the distance from myself to the speakers will be about 3ft. What special considerations do I need to make when designing speakers for near field listening such as this. Would there be a benefit of using co-axial drivers over a separate midrange, tweeter combination? Will I be sacrificing sound quality? I have considered using the Seas P17RE COAX/TVF(Shielded) (H653) if I decide to go this route? Has anyone used this driver before? With the co-axial Seas driver will I have to worry about a separate crossover or is that part of the package?I have been an avid reader here for several weeks now and value any opinions any of you may have on this subject. I can't wait to get started!
Thanks in advance.
Alan
