Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |

First off, my amp has two inputs. One set goes through a potentiometer for volume control and the other set is normal. I only use the set with the pot. I was wondering if I could short out the second one, as it is always on. It seems no different than doing so on a preamp, but I want to make sure. Also, my ferrite rings from digikey arrived yesterday, and I'm having some problems implementing them into the system. I can place them on other electronics in the room, and on the power conditoner for my CD player, but if I actually place them on my amp or CD player power chord and ICs, I get a deterioration in sound. Why is this? Is it because I esentially have a passive preamp, and the added impedance adds complications or what?
