add a small resistor to lower the voltage to the bulbs by 10%.They will only be slightly less bright but will now last forever.
Nominal bulb resistance is 6.3/0.2 =~ 30R
So add a 3.3R 1/2 or 1W to each bulb. Cost pennies.
Swapping for LEDS is tricky as already stated.I have done this is commercial equipment by the the thousand.
