Re: Balanced Power

207.65.168.7

Yes, all the dynamics are there and I am running the whole system on balanced power. The main effect is that the bottom drops out of the noise floor. Everything is much quieter, even the "tube rush" in the phono stage. Large, deep soudstage with each instrument in a quartet occupying its own space. I am beginning to believe that balanced power will render the debate over AC cords moot - at least after you get to the level of heavier conductors and hospital-grade connectors at each end.

I use an ET1R with EMI/RFI filtering and the Super-Isolation option on the front end plugged into a dedicated 20 amp circuit and two ET2R, one on each channel's amps, each plugged into dedicated 30 amp circuits.

Phono stage is the Aesthetix Io w/ladder attenuators run direct into the amps, CD is the Accuphase DP-75, also run direct but soon to pick up a passive pre. Amps are Atma-Sphere M-60 Mk IIs modded, but a pair of either direct-coupled 2A3s or direct-coupled 45s will soon be added, as soon as I decide which to build first. At that time, Xover will move to active line-level, which will be plugged into the ET1R. Speakers are Classic Audio Reproductions T-1 Project.
