IME, while not quite as profound as when a regular Herbie's CD mat is placed on a CD within a regular transport without a platter (such as a Philips drive), The Black Hole Top-Loader/SP CD Mat when placed on my Theta Pearl transports stable platter offers notable sonic improvement well-worth the price; in fact it's a solid bargain not unlike other Herbie's products. It provides a level of increased clarity and an overall more relaxed presentation from top to bottom and a bit more analog-like musicality in general. The audiophile value of The Black Hole Top-Loader/SP CD Mat earns a worthy A+ in my book... a real keeper :-)
