Re: Capacitance between chassis and circuit common ground.

>>What does it measure with a resistance meter?<<

This is the measurement that lead me to measure capacitance. It reads just like it would if you were to measure a capacitor using an ohmeter---starts off about 1meg or so and then increases in resistance until it maxes out the meter's resistance range. The measured capacitance remains quite stable.

The chassis is directly connected to the AC mains ground. Do you think I have a bad bias transformer or is this leakage capacitance causing this unsual loading of the bias transformer (one differnce I noticed between the bias transformer on the "bad" unit and the good unit is that the "bad" unit's bias trannie has a red marker dot on the trannie case while the "good" one does not which lead me to believe that a bad trannie made it out the door of magnetek)? I have not powered up the "bad" unit with the 10 ohm resistor in place (I have powered up the good unit with and w/o the resistor in place and there was no difference). Do I run the risk of smoking the resistor if I do power up the unit in this condition? One thing I didn't think of doing before going through and disconnecting parts of the circuit was measuring the voltage between the cir.ground and chassis.

Thanks for your informed insight Dave,
Tom §.
