What you describe as capacitance is probably a leakage resistance. If you are trying to measure a capacitance with a leakage path present, the reading will not be accurate. The meters generally output something like a 1KHz squarewave for measuring capacitance. What does it measure with a resistance meter? Is the chassis ground supposed to be connected to anything, such as the AC input ground? Could be solder or flux or some other contamination causing the leakage.Dave
