Re: Going abroad with my electronics. 120V@60hz-230V@50Hz.

I took my cdp but left the rest and replaced it with a (gasp) rack system. I was going to Poland and wasn't taking any chances with my good system (the polish electrical grid is uncertain in the best of times - thanks to 40 years of underinvestment under the previous government).

I've now been abroad for 4 years and really wish I had bought it along. The rack system was designed to work on all voltages/frequencies. The CDP did fine on a step-up transformer(it was a midrange sony that died after being moved once too often).

By the way, in Poland the step up transformers all hummed horrendously all the time. In Israel, they are fine - no noise at all. It really will depend on the quality of the power going in.

If you have really good stuff, you should check out the powerplants from PS audio. You can then adjust hte frequency and the voltage to whatever is needed. Not so cheap, though. If I could do it all over again now, I would have bought a couple of those and enjoyed my system at its best.
