I like the uncharged mat. It cleaned the sound up nicely on my NAD 522 & my CAL CL-10 albeit on a nuance level of improvement. However, the flourescence makes the sound pompously dynamic, IMHO. The effect reminded me of my brother's Philips CDR-765 when playing in the recording bay which simply doesn't happen in the player drawer. The sound pumped-out artificially-enhanced impulsive frequency-initiants. Why? I haven't a clue, but the effect isn't minor.
