I'm currently using a tube preamp and transistor amp. If I turn on the amp first and then power up the preamp the amp goes into protection mode and shuts down. But if I turn on the preamp and let it warm up for about 15 seconds and then turn on the amp, everything is fine. I'm not at all worried about this because the amp runs just fine with no excessive heat or distortion. As a matter of fact it sounds terrific altough it will sound even better when I finish upgrading my tube monoblock amps and relegate the transistor amp back to the hometheater set up where it belongs.
