I asked this question on the Madisound board and got a similar answer. However this can't be the case in that many of the brand name saws (ie Porter Cable, Dewalt etc.) Sell both what they call framing saws and circular saws. They don't indicate that the framing saws are worm drive. In fact Porter cable sells a circular saw, framing saw and also a worm drive saw. The worm drive saw that Porter Cable sells is not called a framing saw and their framing saw does not specify a worm drive. I think there must be some other difference.I don't have the room for a table saw so I am left with using a hand held circular saw. I think I can do a good job anyway. I will soon find out.
