If you look at it as from a 2-ply mtoilet tissue roll there will be an inner ply (foil) and the outer ply (foil)too. What I was referring to is the outer foil that supposedly has a mild shielding effect and for that reason it should go with the one which is closest to ground, similar to a shielding cable (rememeber the outer shield has to be "ground"??)For speaker application it really doesn't matter as much (remember speaker impose a very low impedance anyways.
My suggestion is to connect it whatever way you want to (make sure both left speaker crossover and right speaker crossover's capacitor direction are the same). Give that a try and see if you like the sound.
