Hey Tafka, et.al.

Yes, some broadcast facilities will employ "screen room" technologies.

Where I was an employed to keep the transmitters, etc. on the air, We had a 100kw erp FM system on a tower which was a slant distance of about 800 feet and an AM antenna farm about 2000 feet from the AM & FM control rooms. I hope your system is not that severe! Our "On-Air" booths for AM & FM were designed with copper screen totally surounding them....even in the concrete floor. Grounding was through 6" copper strap to a set of radials under the building. The glass windows were purchased with copper screen IN the glass. Special attention was given to the entry way doors.

If one doesn't go to such lengths in his design, then he's just playing around with it. Hopefully, high signal strenth RF is probably not going to be a problem in your situation. RF is sneaky and has a bad habit of coming in via your wiring.

One interesting note. Back when i was in broadcasting, the entire facility where I worked was wired with multi-pair telephone cable. This was a facility with 2 main control rooms, a news control room, a traffic/misc control room, two production studios (one was 24 track), satellite feeds, remote gear.... the whole works.

Visiting engineers would gasp and choke when they saw the telephone lines and punch blocks connecting all the rooms and carrying the audio up to the transmitter building. They were so damned used to using Belden, etc. shielded cable to stop RF problems. When the station was sold off to the invading hordes of carpetbaggers in gray flannel suits (What, me bitter ? Nahhhh!), their hot-shit engineer came down here and proceeded to try to rewire everything with expensive shielded cable. Boy were they in for a surprise! We just couldn't seem to convice them that the old telephone cable pairs were inherently balanced and naturally "shedded" the RF.....and that we had been operating in the shadow of the antennas for years with very insignificant RFI problems. Oh well.
