I am pleased to own 8008BB and 8008X3 amps (mfg is Mondial). It has taken me a couple of years of trading and upgrading to work up to these amps (funny, I remember back five years ago when I though paying $2-3K for an amp was insane). But they really are rock solid, quality amps.Anyway, the only thing I object to or would want to change about the amps is the binding posts that are used -- cheap, plastic ones. I've been considering replacing them with high quality Cardas or WBT posts. I asked Mondial why they used these posts They said it was because of "safety issues".
Then I asked Kimber Kable about any such issues They replied as follows:
"There really are not any and we do have the CE compliant WBT 0730 and 0745
series which are fully insulated posts(metal under a see thru hard plastic
insulator. So I suspect it is a cost issue for them rather than an actually saftety issue."This agrees with my thought also. Of course, this would probably void the warranty. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
