This is only uysually considered effective for industry, where the large current draw will need correction, with typical house currents, the amount of savings would be very small.However, the sheer bulk of capacitance at the house mains panel would swamp out almost all noise coming in from outside, and greatly reduce internal noise as well. The rub is it would take thousands of uF to do any real PF corrections, and caps with the proper safety ratings would be very costly, perhaps thousands of dollars worth.
