My favorite XLRs for cables are the AudioTruth models with "functionally perfect copper" pins and sockets. Parts Connection discontinued carrying these expensive connectors ($100/stereo pair of plugs and jacks), but you may be able to get them from AudioQuest/AudioTruth. I replaced the Switchcrafts on my KCAGs with these and the difference was not subtle, taking the performance of this moderately good cable up a few notches. I have heard good things about XLO's Signature series ($10.50 males/$11.95 females), available from (who else?) Michael Percy (no internet catalog, see contact info in earlier posts).
