A heavy non-resonant base is the way to go, I would make it wider and longer than what I see in the Argent photo's, and then cover the base with felt or some other material to prevent deleterious reflections off of it.The pipes should be as free from vibrationas possible, held firmly, and the only thing that needs to vibrate is the aie, and that, only a little.
I would make the top as minimal as possible, yet strong and sturdy.
I would also avoid making the base TOO heavy, as they will need to be moved around a alot, and tweaked for position. An overly heavy base will make this much more difficult than necessary.
