Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |

I would really like to build a set of Jon'd DIY lenses, but have a couple of questions. For the base a friend and I were thinking 2 differnt ways of going about this. 1st: Cut stone. Was thinking marble or granite form a stone cutter. 2nd: Sand box. A MDF box filled with sand or lead shot to stop vibrations and make it stable. Any thoughts? Am I missing something? Do the tubes need to vibrate to work, or just the air inside? If I use the sand box base do I need to keep it small as possible? Also the brace on top, do I need to keep it as small as possible as well? We had also talked about using the wooden box as a form and making the base out of concrete. (my friend worked in constuction, he knows alot about concrete.) Any help would be great. We are really wanting to try these room lenses for ourselves. BTW I really like this site, MUCH better than Audio review. Thanks.
