The CD7 is reviewed in this month's Absolute Sound. The review has big pics of the insides of the CD 7.

The top of each capacitor and the transformer are covered by a strange looking, thick tape like substance.

Is it some kind of damping material? I have not seen this tweak before and wondered what it might be.
