You can usually just desolder the wire going to it....or find the resistor feeding it from the positive voltage and unsolder one end of it...that way you can always put it back in when you sell it. I cannot imagine that Vinnie would care that you removed the LED, but call him. I am sure it will sound better. So, you no longer have a red-neck-dent?!?....hehe...red leds...no more dents/kinks in you neck...smoother sound....
