They are the proverbial "gonads" for any XO above 1kHz. I get the same gauage that I use for internal speaker wiring (eq: 14ga wire use 14ga CFAC). I find using larger gauge for the choke than the wire is audibly undecernable (waste of money) & a lower guage choke than the wire non-linearly stiffles the midrange (I don't know why).
