I agree with you, and I would not normally sit my subs hard in the corners.
But I am now running the TacT RCS 2.2X, so the subs go hard in the corners to exploit the bass extension offered by the room boundaries and the TacT takes care of everything else.
Just wanted to make sure I hadn't missed a trick with the hole behind the speakers.
