While silicone might be used in some applications for damping, the consisitency of the silicone is important. The silicone in those kitchen products is firm and will react by 'bouncing' to vibration. They don't absorb vibration they release it back into the source. Hence they may add more problems and sonic coloration that something better.Overall, I don't like silicone for damping treatments, unless it is the liguid kind for tonearms etc. becuase of the bounce effect.
