The caps touching may be a problem from vibration, and may also be a problem if the outer foil electrodes of the two caps are at significant voltage with respect to each other.What I would do in your case is make a small cushion out of Teflon thread-seal tape. Wrap about 10 to 20 turns loosely around a pencil, slide it off and flatten it. Carefully insert this cushion between the two cap bodies. If they are already installed, the tension should hold the cushion in place. If you are installing the caps, put them together with the cushion, then wrap the two caps with more of the thread-seal tape to hold them together while you solder the leads.
Teflon is an excellent dielectric for audio as well as a good acoustic damper for small objects. The thread-seal tape is sold in plumbing departments and is used for assembling threaded pipe.
