Could you explain what you mean by "opening up"? The Eichmanns maintain the strongest contact I've ever found in bananas because of the integral spring wire that helps maintain and strengthen this contact. And I simply crimp them rather than solder. By contrast, I was using Monster bananas that gave out and lost much of their tension (and occasionally, their wire) after a brief period of my punishing in-and-out regimen.
