Some specialty cable makers start with mil-spec wire and cable because the materials are tightly controlled, and then add their own proprietary treatments.These treatments are trade secrets. Unless you know someone who would be willing to share them, I would avoid the basic cable for use as-is, as the sound would likely be unpleasant.
