Hi halfnote,While Hospital Grade and Spec Grade AC outlets provide a much better grip than el cheapo "contractor grade" AC outlets (however, the over-the-top "grip of death" is overrated, IMHO), and often involve better materials and designs; they are not specifically designed for use with audio systems. Meaning, the manufacturers don't "listen" to the outlets when making design decisions, so the outlets tend to not sound as "musical" nor offer higher performance listening cues that Audio Grade AC gear does, IME.
Audio Grade make/models are available in a price range that's often affordable for most avid audiophile's audio dollar budget, so consider (and research) the price-to-performance ratio value, and the sonic signature reputation of various Audio Grade AC outlets when making a purchase decision (worth every penny at any price point, IMHO & IME).
just my 2 cents ;-)
Cheers, Duster
