Hi All,
I am new to the site. I would like to know if the little plastic ring that came around my Barclay transport, which has a Phillips CDM4 laser makes any sonic improvement. It started to come loose and wouldn't track certain CD's. In fact it wouldn't play the first few tracks of some of my CD's. We noticed it was moving around so my audio friend removed it and told me it couldn't make a difference. It is about 15 years old but it seemed like it was put there for a reason. I have been having ear problems or I would be able to compare with or without. All it is is a plastic looking washer that fits over the laser. What do you all think. I am going to put it back on eventually, but so far the few techs here in my area don't seem to think it could. Knowing about light leakage etc. I am wondering if they are not correct. Thanks, Larry
