Answer: it doesn't.

You are correct all the way through your post. The single safety earth connection does allow noise from the other appliances in your house to affect your audio system.

It is very dangerous (and against code) to do what some folks have done, and supply an independent safety earth for the audio system. The neutral in the AC feed to the audio system is still connected to the main safety earth at the power entrance, and any lightning strike that causes lateral ground current can induce lethal voltage across the two earth connection points. You can die from shock or the resulting fire.

You could get a large and expensive isolation transformer and connect the secondary to an independent safety earth, but then you have to worry about the current demand of your power amps and whether the transformer has sufficient capacity.

The dedicated lines do reduce the amount of noise on the ground, and you can have the earth connection made more robust. You can also identify and replace the non-audio noise sources that pollute the ground wiring.
